Project Description

Project Description:

This effort is a joint project between LBL; LLNL; ORNL; academia; and industry which will lower the cost of geologic sequestration by developing innovative optimization methods for sequestration technologies with collateral economic benefits.

Project Background:

The GE)-SEQ project is jointly being conducted by LBL; LLNL; and ORNL.  Technical dedtails of tasks are contained in the Statement of Work.

Project Accomplishments:

[NOTE: Updated information not available beginning 2004]

07-Oct-02:
Accomplishment: Completed two-year GEO-SEQ Effort
Description: LBNL has collaborated with ORNL and LLNL, Office of Basic Sciences, and industry an in-depth 2 year effort to assess the validity of the modeling prediction for the geological concept of injecting CO2 in geological formations..

07-Oct-02:
Accomplishment: Geo-chemistry effort progressing
Description: LLNL has been modeling the effects of flu gases on various saline reservoirs for potential injection and monitoring of CO2 emissions.
